We recommend walking through the downtown area, browsing the shops, stopping by the art galleries, and enjoying the atmosphere. Held annually on the Saturday and Sunday of Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, the annual Estes Park Winter Festival is one of the top events in Estes Park during the winter. The festival has many activities the whole family will enjoy such as a silent disco, obstacle course, bounce houses, and more!
The event attracts many food vendors and is home to famous chili cookoff, so make sure to arrive hungry. After a day of enjoying the sights and all the festival has to offer, close out the day by enjoying a live concert from the selection of both local and nationally known musical artists.
Explore Rocky Mountain National Park
No visit to Estes Park is complete without a winter visit to Rocky Mountain National Park! The Park is practically in Estes Park’s backyard! Even though the Park is less crowded during the winter, it is arguably even more stunning than usual with snow-capped peaks and countless evergreen trees coated with fresh snow.
Keep in mind you can only drive about 8 miles along Trail Ridge Road since it is closed at higher elevations during the winter. There are endless possibilities for winter fun including sightseeing, snowshoeing, sledding, and more!
